Facebook Plans Metaverse

Facebook’s most ambitious plan yet is known as “the Metaverse.” As part of the plan, the social media giant will hire around 10,000 people in the EU to help build it, allowing users to move around and communicate within a virtual environment. Mark Zuckerberg has been stumping for the Metaverse for months. Facebook’s Vice President of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, said, “No one company will own and operate the Metaverse. Bringing this to life will take collaboration and cooperation across companies, developers, creators and policymakers.” The firm has committed $50 million to the project. Even so, Facebook stock dropped over a percent in early trading.
